Children's Book Writer
When writing for children, board books, picture books, lullabies and leveled-readers are what I do best.
My love of writing began at an early age. I completed my first book in kindergarten and was published in Scholastic Magazine in sixth grade.
After graduating from high school in Austin, Texas, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Radio, Television and Film from Baylor University.
Upon graduation, I moved to Hollywood to study screenwriting and acting. As a member of the Screen Actors Guild, I worked on television and film productions, such as Father of the Bride, Batman 2, 90210 among others.
After six years on the West Coast, I returned to Texas and began my career as a Children's Book Writer.
My background in teaching literature coupled with my experiences traveling abroad, have served me well as a writer. I have walked the Great Wall of China, stood on the fairways of Scotland's St. Andrews and sailed along the coast of Hong Kong. Seeing the world up close and personal allows me all kinds of choices when I sit down to write.
In 2008 I formed a weekly critique group in Houston. As a dedicated member, I consistently and passionately create new material to be considered by editors and agents in the publishing field.
I give special thanks to the founders and members of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators as well as the Katy Kritique Group for continued inspiration and support.
My hope is that parents, toddlers and children learning to read enjoy my stories as much
as I have enjoyed creating them.
